Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Laser Marking Operator to handle fiber laser machines for engraving hallmarks, logos, serial numbers, and custom designs on gold jewellery. The role requires precision and attention to detail to ensure clean, sharp markings without affecting the finish or structure of the piece.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Set laser parameters (power, frequency, speed) based on metal type (Yellow, White, Rose Gold) and engraving depth
- Accurately position jewellery using jigs/fixtures to ensure proper alignment
- Perform hallmarking as per BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and other applicable standards
Design & Software Management
- Import and edit vector files (PLT, DXF, AI) using software like EzCad
- Prepare layouts for photo engraving and custom text designs as per client requirements
Quality Control & Material Safety
- Inspect engraved pieces using a loupe or microscope for clarity and precision
- Ensure no surface damage, blackening, or excess metal removal (burr) occurs
- Identify and report defects from previous stages (casting/polishing)
Maintenance & Reporting
- Perform routine cleaning of laser lenses and mirrors to maintain beam quality
- Maintain daily logs of marked pieces and reconcile with production data
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience operating fiber laser marking machines in jewellery manufacturing
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in EzCad software
- Basic knowledge of CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator
Other Requirements
- Strong hand-eye coordination for handling delicate jewellery items
- High attention to detail and precision
- Ability to read and verify English text and numeric serial codes accurately
